Bus

I can’t help it but I don’t like the idea of Bud riding the bus home from school. He LOVES it and thinks it’s the coolest thing ever but whenever I think about him sitting in the big seat being all small like he is, it just makes me nervous! I don’t really think anything is going to happen but he’s so little and he’s my little baby and how is it that he can be old enough to ride the bus?? By himself!! I know I would feel better if I knew just who he was riding with. Our neighbor kids ride the bus sometimes and I know they would look out for him but they don’t always come home on the bus and then it’s just him, little tiny Bud in that great big seat, smiling ear to ear, but still just little ol him! Freaks. Me. Out.

I never rode the bus to school, I lived too close, so I don’t really know how it is to ride it home from school. Is it rowdy and noisy? Is it a free for all? Is Bud sitting in the back of the bus bumming a smoke off a 7th grader? These are the things that run through my head. Generally I’m able to keep them to myself (thankfully, for all involved) but sometimes I just can’t help but freak out about it.

  1. Usually bus drivers put the youngest kids in the seats right up front.

I know in our school district the bus drivers have radios and are in constant contact with the schools making sure that kids are where they're supposed to be.
