When movie quotes come full circle

Any “A Christmas Story” fans out there? If so, you’ll especially appreciate this story.

Last night Bud begged asked for an Italian Ice which I conveniently have in our freezer. I told him he could have one if he shared with Babe. He had no problem with that but as soon as I handed it to him she started grabbing for it and he almost dropped it. He looked at her and said “Be careful, it’s Italian!”

Allow me to explain why this was so damn funny. You see, in the movie the dad wins a “major award” and when it’s delivered it comes in a huge wooden create stamped “Fragile”. In his excitement, he tries reading the word and he reads it as “frageel-lay” and says “It must be Italian.” Now my husband and I love that part and the fact that I’m part Italian makes it all the more fun. If my husband is roughhousing with me too much I’ll tell him “Stop! I’m frageel-lay because I’m Italian.” That has morphed into “Be careful, I’m Italian.”Obviously Bud has picked up on that. It’s good to know our Italian Ice treats will be protected with Bud around!

I have more to post later about Bud’s first soccer practice, so stay tuned.

  2. LOL! That is too cute. We love that movie, and watch it at least once every Christmas Day.

I'm part Italian, too! I swear, the more I learn about you, the more we have in common.
