I needed that

I love it when you’re in a bad mood and your kids do something to totally change your state of mind.

Last night we had to run some errands and overall the kids were being really good…until we got to Wal-Mart. They had really just had it and were going insane (never more have I considered putting my kids on a leash then when at Wal-Mart. I think the kid-leash was invented with that store in mind) and I was ready to smack them into next week just go home. Part of the problem was I let them both wear their flip flops. Normally that’s not a big deal but when they are hanging on the cart and jumping from the front of the cart to the back (I may nominate myself for mother of the year) their flip flops tend to flip and flop more than stay on their feet. Bud’s were falling off and getting left behind more often than not and he’d have to go back and get it. At one point I was getting so frustrated with their squealing and all around unruliness I was about to secure them to the cart with duct tape freak out. Bud jumped off the cart (he’d been riding on the front – you know, the place where they show the picture with the line through to indicate “don’t let your snot-nose ride here”) and I yelled at him to get back on the f@#$ing cart and he turns to me and says in a loud voice “I HAVE A SHOE LOSS!”

I couldn’t help myself. I wanted to be mad at him but that was just too damn funny! A couple happened to be walking by as he said that and they couldn’t resist laughing either. It was the perfect thing to break up the gloomy mood.

Tell me, what have your kids said or done to help break up the tension?

  1. Being as I have 3 clowns one of them is always doing something, which either leads to the tension or does break it up. I know what you mean about The Evil Empire though. Taking the clowns in there is the worst.

  4. Haha! I can't wait until my little man can actually speak so he can say funny things.

For now, he just manages to give me the sweetest hugs at all the right times to break up the tension. (I think I'm in trouble...he's already got me figured out).
